Giving the Ordinary an Extraordinary Message

Marketing isn’t marketing without give-aways. So how do you decide what to merchandise? A good design is the difference between branded merchandise being tossed into the trash or faithfully used for years to come.

The task was:
  • Create branded merchandise for events.

  • Create a design that gives that merchandise longer use.

  • Relate the merchandise to a targeted demographic.

Unique solution:

If you have ever been to any type of convention or street festival you have undoubtedly come across tables full of give aways. Most of these are a gimmick showcasing some logo that the vendor hopes will keep their brand in mind. These items can be more effective and influential than you might initially believe depending upon how you craft your message and what audience you are targeting.

The screaming Lady Justice shirt was given away at a convention for plaintiffs’ attorneys, so we kept the clients logo very subdued as a tattoo on the lady’s arm. The quote was supplied by the client and it was a very popular item that flew off the table.

The “gear heart” design was given away at a street festival which was in support of various bicycle coalitions. Putting a conscientious message on the shirt made it more popular and assured that the shirt would be reused often within that community. It too was a popular item and there were hundreds of shirts given away.
