A simple and effective way to animate in a location.
Why we invest time in graphics you don’t need? Answer: Because one day you will.
Frequently we are asked to create a map that zooms in to a specific location from a map that is an overview of a town or city. So we created a quick and effective solution that cuts down on time for every project in the future.
The task was:
Reduce the amount of time for a common request.
Increase the quality of the end result.
Have this process apply to other projects.
Time spent now saves more time later on:
One of the more common requests we have to fulfill is “Can you animate a map that zooms in to a specific area?”. Why yes we can. However, having the same request means that we needed to invest the time to make that request more efficient and more cost effective. So at Narrative Graphics we take the time to invest in things that will be used more through the future and save us time down the road. The rectangular “location bullseye” took 4-5 hours to combine 16 shapes that are animated independently so they look like they enlarge different parts of a map. The result of investing that time for one request has resulted in our ability to create this effect in mere minutes now. Time spent on graphics that are re-used is time saved for each client to come and we think that is a good investment.
